My two favourite fall pies in one! If you love pecan pie and apple pie just as much as me, then this pie is going to be your new favourite dessert!

This pie is bursting with flavours and always wow's people to find out it's a combination of pecan and apple pie!

This is the best pecan apple pie recipe because it's way quicker to make than any other recipes because my version uses canned apple pie filling for the apple layer! That means no coring, peeling, or slicing any apples so you can save a ton of time making this pie!

    Ingredients

    • Store-bought pie crust (or make a homemade pie crust recipe)
    • Canned apple pie filling
    • Cinnamon
    • Nutmeg
    • Butter
    • Brown sugar
    • Corn syrup
    • Eggs
    • Pecans

See the recipe card below for the ingredient measurements.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 - Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350° F and place the store-bought pie crust on a baking sheet so it's easy to transfer to the oven. Set aside, away from the heating oven.

Step 2 - Make the apple pie filling: To a mixing bowl, combine and mix the apple pie filling, cinnamon and nutmeg with a spoon.

Apple pie filling mixed together in a bowl.

Step 3 - Make the pecan pie filling: To a separate mixing bowl, whisk the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and eggs together.

Pecan pie filling mixed in a bowl.

Step 4 - Assemble the pie: To the pie crust, evenly distribute the apple pie filling and then sprinkle the pecans over the apples. Slowly pour the pecan pie filling over the apples and pecans (do not overfill the pie (you may not need all the pecan pie filling)).

Pecans and the pecan pie filling poured on top of the apple pie filling in the pie shell.

Step 5 - Bake: Bake the pie on the middle rack uncovered for 45-55 minutes until set (it should not jiggle). Rest for at least 30 minutes and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

    Storage

Store covered with plastic wrap or tin foil (once room temperature) in the fridge for up to 1 week or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 months.

    Helpful Tips

    • If you're using a store-bought pie crust, opt for a deep dish version to ensure all the pie filling fits in the pie crust!
    • Consider toasting the pecans before adding them to the pie for an extra toasty flavour!
    • Give the pie time to rest after baking and before slicing, as the pie needs time to set up. If you slice it too early, it will be runny.
