Description
This easy pecan apple pie recipe is the ultimate Thanksgiving and fall dessert!
Ingredients
- Store-bought deep-dish pie crust (or make a homemade pie crust): 1
- Canned apple pie filling: one 21 oz can
- Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Nutmeg: 1/2 teaspoon
- Butter: 1 tablespoon, melted
- Brown sugar: 1/2 cup
- Corn syrup: 1/4 cup
- Egg: 1
- Pecans: 1 cup
Instructions
- Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350° F and place the store-bought pie crust on a baking sheet so it's easy to transfer to the oven. Set aside, away from the heating oven.
- Make the apple pie filling: To a mixing bowl, combine and mix the apple pie filling, cinnamon and nutmeg with a spoon.
- Make the pecan pie filling: To a separate mixing bowl, whisk the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and eggs together.
- Assemble the pie: To the pie crust, evenly distribute the apple pie filling and then sprinkle the pecans over the apples. Slowly pour the pecan pie filling over the apples and pecans (do not overfill the pie (you may not need all the pecan pie filling)).
- Bake: Bake the pie on the middle rack uncovered for 45-55 minutes until set (it should not jiggle). Rest for at least 30 minutes and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Notes
If you're using a store-bought pie crust, opt for a deep dish version to ensure all the pie filling fits in the pie crust!
Consider toasting the pecans before adding them to the pie for an extra toasty flavour!
Give the pie time to rest after baking and before slicing, as the pie needs time to set up. If you slice it too early, it will be runny.
