I've made many apple crisps, but a granola crisp is the crunchiest, crispiest and most delicious version yet! Let's be honest, the crisp is the best part of apple crisp, and if this is your first time making it with granola, I can promise it won't be your last!

Something else you'll love about this recipe is that it's made with canned apples. You'll be able to save a ton of time without the need to peel, core, and slice a bunch of apples (the worst part of making apple crisp, in my opinion)!

    Ingredients

    • Canned apple pie filling
    • Spices (cinnamon and nutmeg)
    • Granola
    • Brown sugar
    • Flour
    • Salt
    • Butter
    • Vanilla ice cream (optional, for topping)

See the recipe card below for the ingredient measurements.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 - Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Step 2 - Make the apple mixture: To a 9x13 baking dish, combine and mix the canned apple pie filling, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.

Step 3 - Make the crisp: To a large bowl, mix together the granola, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Add the butter and use your hands to form a crumbly texture (or use a pastry cutter).

Step 4 - Bake: Sprinkle the crisp topping over the apple mixture and bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes, or until golden. Serve with vanilla ice cream as desired.

Store any leftovers covered in tin foil or plastic wrap in the fridge for up to one week.

    Notes

The cooler the butter, the easier it will be to make a crumbly crisp topping.

Making the crisp topping takes a little patience to form, but no more than 5 minutes! You'll know it's ready when it has a wetish paste like texture that starts to form clumps.
