Ingredients
Apple Mixture Filling
- Canned apple pie filling: two 21 oz cans
- Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Nutmeg: 1/2 teaspoon
Crisp Topping
- Granola: 1 and 1/2 cups
- Brown sugar: 1 cup
- Flour: 1 cup
- Cinnamon: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Cold Butter: 3/4 cup, cut into small cubes
Instructions
- Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Make the apple mixture: To a 9x13 baking dish, combine and mix the canned apple pie filling, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
- Make the crisp: To a large bowl, mix together the granola, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Add the butter and use your hands to form a crumbly texture (or use a pastry cutter).
- Bake: Sprinkle the crisp topping over the apple mixture and bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes, or until golden. Serve with vanilla ice cream as desired.
Notes
The cooler the butter, the easier it will be to make a crumbly crisp topping.
Making the crisp topping takes a little patience to form, but no more than 5 minutes! You'll know it's ready when it has a wetish paste like texture that starts to form clumps.
