    Recipe Ingredients

    • SOUR CREAM
    • TACO SEASONING
    • ROTEL
    • CHEESE

See the recipe card below for the ingredient measurements.

    Kitchen Equipment

    • BOWL: You will need one bowl to mix the dip ingredients. You may want a separate bowl to serve the dip as well.
    • CAN OPENER: To open the rotel.
    • CHEESE GRATER: For shredding the cheese.
    • MEASURING CUPS: For measuring the ingredients.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Add the sour cream and taco seasoning to a bowl and mix. Add the cheese and rotel and mix again. Serve with tortilla chips, potato chips, and or veggies.

    Storage and Leftovers

Any leftovers can be stored covered with plastic wrap or transferred to an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

    Expert Tips

    • Suggest mixing the sour cream and taco seasoning together first before incorporating the other ingredients so that the taco seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the sour cream base and doesn't get clumpy.
    • Chilling the dip in the fridge for 30 minutes or more will intensify the dip flavors.
    • Strain the Rotel before adding it to the dip to avoid it becoming runny.
Why is it called boat dip?

It's called boat dip because it's intended to be a quick and easy dip with few ingredients that you can bring on boat trips (but it's great for all summer occasions like picnics, pool days, camping trips, and more!)

    Can you freeze boat dip?

It's not recommended to freeze boat dip, as once it thaws, its texture will not be the same as when you first made it.

    How to store boat dip?

Store it in the fridge covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
