This is one of my favourite cherry desserts because it's quick to make, I can always rely on the ingredients to be accessible at any grocery store (there are just three!), the sweet cherry filling and buttery topping is incredibly tasty, and the red colour from the cherry filling is so bright and inviting!

- Canned Cherry Pie Filling (not canned cherries, those are different!)
- Boxed Yellow Cake Mix (vanilla/white cake mix also tastes good with this recipe)

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 - Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Step 2 - Assemble: Evenly distribute the canned cherry pie filling into a 9x13 baking dish. In a serperate bowl, combine and mix the cake mix and melted butter until a crumbly texture forms and then sprinkle it over the cherry layer.


Step 3 - Bake: Bake the cobbler in the preheated oven on the middle rack uncovered for 35-45 minutes until the crumble is golden brown. Let the cobbler rest for about 10 minutes before serving.


Storage and Leftovers
Store any leftovers covered tightly with aluminum foil or plastic wrap (once room temperature) in the fridge for up to 1 week. To reheat, bake uncovered or microwave on a microwave-safe dish until warm.

Frequently Asked Questions
It's not necessary because the canned filling includes corn starch for thickening, but if you prefer the cherry layer to be extra thick, you can mix a tablespoon of corn starch into it.
Cobbler should be served warm, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream makes a delicious difference!

Notes
You'll know when to stop mixing the butter and cake mix when the texture becomes crumbly.
Instead of melting the butter and mixing it with the cobbler, you can also just pour the dry cake mix over the cherry layer and then distribute slices of butter if you find that easier.
If you want your cobbler to be extra thick, you can mix the cherry pie filling with a tablespoon of corn starch.
The cobbler is ready when the top is golden in colour.
Letting the cobbler rest will give it time to cool down and thicken slightly, making it easier to scoop and eat!
