Check out these prosciutto caprese skewers, this caprese crostini recipe, tortellini caprese skewers, and this caprese pasta salad too if you love caprese recipes!

I love making these caprese skewers when hosting friends or bringing a snack to share at a dinner party! People love how cute, bite-sized, and delicious they are, just like my prosciutto caprese skewers, and they're always gone in seconds!

I have taste-tested this recipe a handful of times to perfect it! You can use other varieties of cheese, salami, and tomatoes, but I believe this recipe is the best because of the combination chosen, and my friends and family feel the same way!

Want to know the best part about this recipe? It's made with ingredients easily found at any grocery store. All Cup of Flour recipes are intentionally made to be approachable, and that starts with choosing basic ingredients accessible to everyone. Why you’ll love this recipe

    • EASY: These salami caprese bites are made with just four ingredients and are super simple to assemble!
    • QUICK: They take only 10 minutes to make so if you're in a hurry to make a simple yet delicious snack, this is the perfect option!
    • IMPRESSING: These may look like a fancy appetizer, but they are the easiest snack to make and people love how small and easy to eat they are!

    Recipe Ingredients

    • SALAMI: This is the fun part because you can choose whatever salami you prefer whether it's spicy, mild, or flavoured!
    • MOZZARELLA: This recipe uses boccaccini balls, but regular mozzarella or other cheeses like gouda, cheddar, etc. will work and taste just as delicious!
    • BASIL: The fresh basil adds a pretty pop of colour and so much fresh flavour.
    • CHERRY TOMATOES: The fresh tomatoes bring a freshness, juiciness, and flavour and taste especially delicious when they're in season in the summer/fall!

See the recipe card below for the ingredient measurements.

    Alternative Ingredients

    • Cheese: Any solid form of cheese will work on these cheese and meat skewers! Some ideas are regular brick mozzarella, cheddar cubes, or fancier cheeses like Havarti, gouda, or double-smoked!
    • Meat: You can thread a variety of cured or sliced meat onto these skewers, such as turkey, ham, spicy salami, and/or prosciutto (like these prosciutto caprese skewers)!
    • Olives: Green or black olives like kalamata olives would be a delicious salty addition to caprese these bites!
    • Balsamic Glaze: Consider drizzling the kabobs with some balsamic glaze for a rich burst of flavor.

    Instructions

    1. Assemble: Thread a piece of salami, mozzarella/boccacini ball, rolled-up basil leaf, and tomato onto a toothpick. Repeat these steps for each toothpick.

    Storage and Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

    Expert Tips

    • Roll the basil leaf. This will give the skewer a cleaner look and make it easier to eat.
    • Keep the cherry tomato whole. Avoid slicing the cherry tomato in half because it will make the skewer wet and cause a bit of a mess when servicing.
    • Thread the salami first. The easiest way to assemble these caprese meat skewers is to scatter the slices of meat on a cutting board, poke them with a toothpick, and thread everything else on top of the salami.
    • Don't overcrowd the skewers. If there isn't enough room on the toothpick, slice the bocconcini ball in half or make the salami pieces smaller. You can also make more room by pushing the different ingredients on the toothpick.
    • Make more! If you're planning to feed a big group, double the recipe!

    Description

These easy caprese skewers with salami are a quick and delicious appetizer for any occasion!

    Ingredients

    • 12 toothpicks
    • cured salami log sliced into 3 rings, then cut into 4 quarters to make 12 pieces
    • 12 mozzarella bocconcini balls
    • 12 fresh basil leaves
    • 12 cherry tomatoes

    Instructions

    1. Assemble: Thread a piece of salami, mozzarella/boccacini ball, rolled-up basil leaf, and tomato onto a toothpick. Repeat these steps for each toothpick.

    Notes

You can use regular mozzarella brick cheese cut into small cubes if you don't have boccacini balls.

If you don't have a dry-cured salami log, you can thread the skewers using sliced deli salami.

Keep the cherry or grape tomatoes whole so the juice isn't released and creates a mess.

You can double the recipe if you are planning to feed a large group.
