Its sweet and salty flavour and warm, ooey gooey chocolate chip cookie texture makes this such a yummy treat, any time of year. Everyone's always happy when I pull out this pie out for dessert, especially with some vanilla ice cream! I've been making it for years!

    Ingredients

    • Frozen store-bought deep-dish pie shell (or make a homemade pie crust)
    • Graham crackers
    • Pretzels
    • Pecans
    • Chocolate chips (I typically use semi-sweet, but milk chocolate also works! They're just sweeter)
    • Caramel/toffee bits
    • Shredded coconut (if you prefer to make this trash pie without coconut, that's totally common; coconut isn't for everyone, and it still tastes delicious without!)
    • Sweetened condensed milk
    • Butter

See the recipe card below for the ingredient measurements.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 - Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350° F.

Step 2 - Mix: Add the crushed graham crackers, pretzels, pecans, chocolate chips, caramel bits, coconut, sweetened condensed milk and melted butter to a mixing bowl and mix thoroughly.

Step 3 - Bake: Place the frozen pie shell on a baking sheet and pour the pie filling into it (Don't overfill). Bake for 30-35 minutes on the middle rack until slightly browned. Let the pie rest for 30 minutes before cutting into it.

    Storage & Leftovers

Store the pie covered tightly in plastic wrap or tin foil (once room temperature) and store in the fridge for up to 1 week. To freeze, transfer to an airtight contrainer and store for up to 3 months.

If there is leftover pie and it's being stored in the fridge, you'll notice it's quite solid after being chilled.

To serve any leftovers, cut a slice and microwave it for 20 seconds or until warm. Alternatively, you can add the pie to the oven at 300° F for about 10 minutes or until warm. It can also be served at room temperature, so another option is to just take out of the fridge 3-4 hours before you plan to serve it.

    Notes

An easy way to crush the graham crackers and pretzels is to add them to a Ziplock bag and crush them using a rolling pin or meat tenderizer. An alternative is to just chop them with a knife.
