Description

This easy caramel apple poke cake is moist, tasty, and tastes like fall in every bite! The most delicious apple cinnamon dessert ever.

Ingredients

Units
  • Vanilla Cake Mix: one box (15.25 ounces)
  • Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  • Canned Apple Pie Filling: one can (21 ounces)
  • Store-bought Caramel Sauce: 1/2 cup
  • Cool Whip: 8 ounces
  • Toffee Bits: for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Bake the Cake: To a mixing bowl, whisk the cake mix and cinnamon together. Add the apple pie filling and mix again with a spoon. Transfer the cake batter to the baking dish and bake on the middle rack for 28-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Assemble the Cake: Once the cake is completely cool, poke the cake with holes with the bottom of a wooden spoon. Evenly pour the caramel over the top of the cake and then refrigerate for 30 minutes (or 15 minutes in the freezer). Spread the Cool Whip over the top of the cake and drizzle it with extra caramel and toffee bites.

Notes

It's important that the cake is cooled before pouring the caramel sauce and spreading the cool whip on top otherwise the cake may end up soggy and the cool whip will melt.

Get creative with the toppings! Think chocolate chips, nuts, etc!
