Description
This apple crisp with canned apples is quick and easy to make, delicious, and the perfect Thanksgiving dessert!
Ingredients
Filling
- Apple Pie Filling: two 21 oz cans
- Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Nutmeg: 1 teaspoon
Topping
- Flour: 1 cup
- Oats: 1 and 1/2 cups
- Brown Sugar: 1 cup
- Cinnamon: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Butter: 3/4 cup, cold and cut into small cubes
Instructions
- Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
-
Make the filling: To a 9x13 baking dish, combine and mix the canned apple filling, cinnamon and nutmeg together.
-
Make the topping: In a mixing bowl, combine and mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the butter and use your hands to form a crumbly texture (you can also use a pastry cutter if you have one).
-
Bake: Evenly sprinkle the topping over the pie filling and bake the apple crisp for 40-45 minutes uncovered on the middle rack until golden brown and crispy.
Notes
To avoid a dry topping, take your time cutting the butter into the topping ingredients to ensure the texture is crumbly and has enough butter to coat everything, allowing it to get crispy in the oven.
