Description

This easy cinnamon roll dump cake is easy to make and full of ooey gooey goodness! A comforting and delicious dessert any time of year!

Ingredients

Units
  • Cinnamon Rolls: two 8 count canned packages (cut into quarters)
  • Cream Cheese Frosting: one container (slightly melted)
  • Yellow Cake Mix: one box
  • Butter: 3/4 cup
  • Brown Sugar: 1/2 cup
  • Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Assemble: Evenly distribute the cinnamon roll pieces in the baking dish, spread the melted cream cheese frosting on top, sprinkle over the cake mix, and top with slices of butter. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle on top.

  3. Bake: Bake uncovered on the middle rack for 40-50 minutes, until golden (do not let it get too dark or it will be dry and not gooey). Let it rest for 5-10 minutes, then drizzle on the icing from the cinnamon roll packages.

Notes

The cream cheese just needs to be melted enough so that it's easy to spread/drizzle over the cinnamon rolls. It doesn't need to be too runny - 20 seconds in the microwave is more than enough.

Another option instead of the yellow cake mix is to use cinnamon swirl cake mix or muffin mix, however it's not always as easily accessible for everyone depending on the grocery store so that's why I like to use a common yelllow cake mix and then just add cinnamon sugar. If you're using cinnamon swirl cake mix, you can omit the cinnamon and brown sugar and use the packet that comes with the box cake mix.

Avoid overbaking the cake as the cinnamon rolls will become dry.

Best served warm.
